I didn't want to crush the rain gutter with the rental truck, so I asked my neighbor to guide me back towards the garage. I stepped out to admire his guidance, (and my backing up abilities) when I noticed this. YIKES!
All I wanted to do was load the danged truck, but I really didn't want to have to worry about getting stung by those... those... creatures. So, I did what any self respecting guy who's afraid of getting stung would do. I put on jeans, boots, a t-shirt, a turtleneck, wrapped a towel around my head, put on a big hat, thick leather work gloves, grabbed two cans of wasp killer, and two hoses! One with a spray that I kept waving around me to fend off any wasps trying to attack, and one with a stream to annihilate the nest. Oh, yeah... and a borrowed Anonymous mask. Really, it was borrowed! Two years ago. I knew there was a reason I never returned it, thanks Mike!
So, I sprayed, and blasted. I blasted and sprayed. It finally came down. The whole time they were trying to get back to their home. I actually started to get a little sad at one point. Until I realized they were keeping me from loading the truck!
Tips if I was to do it again;
- Do it at night. Supposedly wasps aren't as active.
- Have someone else do it.
For the record, when I went out at 5:30 this morning, there were about 20 of them. They had already started rebuilding. The best part, I haven’t been stung! Yet.
